Southern Flow Inc. is a leading systems integration firm based in Alpharetta, GA. We design, build, and commission custom turnkey control systems for water and wastewater facilities across the Southeast.

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Control Systems Engineer II who is ready to take ownership of projects, support customers in the field, and help mentor junior team members. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in industrial automation who enjoys both technical problem-solving and hands-on field work.

As a Level II engineer, you’ll be expected to work independently on a wide range of control system tasks while continuing to expand your technical expertise across multiple platforms and technologies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead control system projects from design through startup and commissioning
  • Develop and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs across multiple platforms
  • Design control panel wiring diagrams, layouts, and schematics using AutoCAD
  • Perform onsite startup, commissioning, diagnostics, and troubleshooting
  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial Ethernet, radio, and serial communication networks
  • Lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and field I/O checkout activities
  • Conduct operator training and support customers during system startup
  • Interface directly with contractors, plant personnel, engineers, and end users
  • Perform radio path studies and assist with SCADA communication system implementation
  • Support instrumentation installation, calibration, and process troubleshooting
  • Mentor and assist Level I Engineers and Technicians
  • Travel throughout the Southeast for project work and customer support

What You’ll Bring:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
  • 3+ years of controls engineering, industrial automation, or systems integration experience
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Industrial control panels
    • AC/DC electrical systems
    • Motor controls
    • Relay logic
    • Instrumentation and process control
  • Experience programming PLCs and HMIs across 2–3 platforms
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Ethernet/IP networking
    • Radio communications
    • Serial communications (RS-232/485)
    • Remote access technologies such as Tosibox
  • Experience with:
    • Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
    • Startup and commissioning
    • Troubleshooting live industrial systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and interpretation of P&IDs and wiring schematics
  • Familiarity with UL standards and industrial control panel construction
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and priorities
  • Willingness to travel regularly
