As an integral part of the engineering team, the Controls and Information Systems Engineer is responsible for the improving, designing, developing, and troubleshooting systems in process and packaging departments at AMVAC manufacturing locations. This role is crucial for ensuring that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely by optimizing system performance and integrating advanced technological solutions. This position is based on-site at the Axis, Alabama manufacturing plant.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems for automated machinery and equipment in process and packaging
  • Conduct system testing and validation procedures
  • Develop and implement software for control systems
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing control systems
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications and operation manuals
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
  • Train personnel on the use and operation of control systems
  • Perform regular system maintenance and updates
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers for equipment and software purchases
  • Provide control system configuration changes required to support turnarounds and capital projects for process and packaging departments
  • Process Improvement and Innovation: Constantly seeking opportunities to improve existing processes, implementing innovative solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency
  • Work closely with teams across different departments to ensure seamless integration of control systems with various processes and technologies
  • Develop and implement SIS strategies to mitigate risks in processes

Education Requirements:

  • BS Degree required - Chemical, Electrical, Computer Engineering desired

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years manufacturing plant experience with a broad technical understanding of plant operations; chemical manufacturing experience ideal
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting such as: Rockwell ControlLogix and/or Modicon PLCs
  • Honeywell Experion PKS (Process Knowledge System) experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HMI systems
  • Familiarity with industrial networking protocols and standards
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Hands-on experience with robotics and automation
  • Ability to read and understand PFDs and P&ID's
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Must be a leader with excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work as a team member as well as independently
  • Ability to pass post-offer background check, physical and drug test
