Job Description

The Technical Production Manager supports all NBCUniversal operations in Washington, DC. This role is responsible for managing studio crews to execute daily programming while overseeing day-to-day technical and operational functions.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee studio and control room production, ensuring performance standards are consistently met
  • Partner with scheduling to ensure appropriate crew staffing and coverage
  • Collaborate with the News Desk, booking teams, and transmission to ensure successful execution of live remotes
  • Liaise with NBCUniversal operations and executive leadership
  • Oversee facilities, IT, and maintenance services for assigned studios and control rooms during on-air operations
  • Manage internal customer relationships across NBCUniversal brands, balancing creative needs with strong operational execution
  • Develop and motivate crews, establishing clear standards and expectations for broadcast excellence
  • Execute business strategies and cost initiatives while maintaining daily operations
  • Lead operations during breaking and unplanned news events
  • Implement a unified operational strategy across NBCUniversal show units
  • Ensure compliance with NBCUniversal Standards and Practices, as well as Integrity, Health, and Safety policies
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in live or studio television production
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a news environment
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering support and operational experience in broadcast studios and control rooms
  • Experience with modern broadcast workflows, including IP-based contribution, distributed production, and emerging production technologies
  • Strong background in on-air operations and broadcast technology
  • Deep working knowledge of control room, studio, and production systems
  • Proven technical troubleshooting and decision-making skills in fast-paced live environments
  • Experience with production workflows, systems integration, and equipment management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Demonstrated management experience with a customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work all shifts, including days, overnights, weekends, and holidays
