Job description

Amentum is seeking a Telecommunication Technician II for the North of Las Vegas, NV region.

Purpose and Scope:

Installs, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs fire and security alarms, access control systems, and associated equipment such as control panels, smoke/heat detectors, door contacts, motion sensors, card readers, temperature alert sensors, and glass break detectors. Control panels and devices include products from Fire-lite, Advantor, lnfographics, Wells Fargo, MDI, and Pyrotronics. Position is represented by a Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, design and layout systems, create databases, install cabling, mount and wire controls and peripherals.

  • Some panels will require onboard programming or downloads.

  • Establish and maintain communication links by point-to-point modems and/or LANs.

  • Perform scheduled PMl's of all systems, to include database and software upgrades.

  • Use ladders, man lifts, scissor lifts, hand & power tools, and soldering equipment for circuit board repairs.

  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.

  • Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.

  • Must be available to work overtime as required.

  • Must have normal color vision and freedom from fear of heights and confined spaces.

  • Must comply with all Safety and environmental regulations and practices.

  • Must be able to research, specify, and order materials.

  • Must have proficient computer skills to include MS Office products and use computer-based time keeping programs.

  • Must have a valid state driver's license.

  • Must be able to meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain the required government Top-Secret security clearance and access to the work location.

Additional Mandatory Qualifications:

  • F-card issued by Nevada State Fire Marshall's office

  • OSHA-10 card, Construction Industry

  • CPR/First-Aid card

  • No rehires, unless approved by RSSll HR/LR.

  • Must pass pre-hire drug screening and Fit-for-Duty physical.

  • Must be able to work in a remote location with limited medical personnel and facilities.

  • Will need to bring: Social Security Card, original state issued birth certificate or Naturalization Certificate and valid driver's license.

Other Desired Qualifications:

  • Computer skills: must have working knowledge of MS Office and database management software, ability to perform alarm panel programing and downloads.

  • Ability to pass respirator physical/fit-test and wear respirator if required

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel, dirt, asphalt, concrete, or elevated equipment. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers and scaffolds, indoors or outdoors, to service/repair equipment or systems is required. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Ability to work in a field environment with some shift work, at remote locations with occasional over-night assignments. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
