O&M Technician
Nelson Energy Center
Location: Rock Falls, IL
About The Site

Nelson Energy Center is a 989 MW combined cycle and peaking power generation facility. The combined cycle units consist of two 1x1 units with G.E. 7F.03+ gas turbines and G.E. A-10 steam turbines. The site also has two dual-fuel G.E. 7F.03 gas turbine peaking units. The site operates and maintains a water treatment facility which processes river water for use as cooling water, firewater, and boiler water make-up. The facility is located in Rock Falls, IL. (about 100 miles west of Chicago).

Position Overview

The O&M Technician provides the organization with a knowledgeable, multi-skilled, troubleshooting expert who operates and maintains a 989 MW combined cycle power station with 609 MW's of combined cycle and 380 MW's of dual fuel peaking capacity. This position requires highly flexible individuals that work various shift schedules in a Team environment performing various team support functions.

Responsibilities

  • The O&M Technician will be a team player performing operations, maintenance, and technical support to achieve safe, cost-effective operation and maintenance of the Nelson Energy Center.
  • Operate the facility during start-up, shutdown, normal, and emergency conditions in accordance with operating procedures and instructions to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and or control systems in a power generation facility.
  • Perform/direct housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe work environment and professional appearance
  • Work within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures.
  • The O&M Technician will work various shifts and be subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • 1+ years of directly related operations, mechanical, electrical or instrumentation and controls experience (I&C) experience in a power generation facility or industrial setting.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Requirements

  • Education in mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, or instrument and control.
  • GE 7FA experience a plus but not required.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

Base Pay

$37.35 - $64.09 USD Hourly
Bonus: 0% - 10%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
