Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position at a Level I Trauma Center in Illinois, requiring prior urban trauma ED experience and an active IL RN license.

Details
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Combined adult and pediatric general emergency department in a Level I Trauma Center
  • Teaching hospital setting
  • Epic EMR — experience preferred
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required
  • Block scheduling is not available
Requirements
  • Active Illinois RN license currently in hand — pending licenses are not accepted
  • Minimum 1–2 years of ED nursing experience required
  • Prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma ED required
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS
  • Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPI
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Proficiency with a broad range of emergency clinical skills including triage, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV/phlebotomy, ventilator management, chest tube care, procedural sedation, and trauma response (including GSW, TBI, spinal cord injury, and traumatic amputation)
Additional Information
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are accepted
  • Former permanent staff at any University of Chicago Medicine location must have been separated for at least 7 months before being eligible to work as a traveler
  • RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the contract; no RTO in the first or last week of the contract
  • Orientation includes non-billable online modules (approximately 2–3 hours) completed during the onboarding period
  • Any scheduling requests must be communicated at the time of initial submission and addressed during the interview — requests made after offer acceptance will not be accommodated
