Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of ICU experience and AZ or compact RN licensure.

Details
  • Acute care setting within a 12-bed Intensive Care Unit at a Level 3 trauma facility
  • Typical patient ratio of 1:2
  • 12-hour night shifts from 1800-0630
  • Modified self-scheduling with block scheduling available
  • Minimum of 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule required
  • May float to ED or Med-Surg if experienced in those areas
  • Uses Allscripts EMR
  • Common cases include Left Heart Caths, Coronary Interventions, STEMIs, IVUS, IFR/FFR, Temporary Pacemaker Insertion, and IABP Insertion
  • Additional common conditions treated include pneumonia, post-cath care, EVAR, ARDS, DKA, CVA post-tPA, afib RVR, sepsis, and renal failure
  • Utilizes GE floor-mounted C-Arm and Table, Volcano System, Change Healthcare Cardiology Hemo System, and Getinge IABP
  • Respiratory Therapist available on unit 24/7
  • Support staff includes Patient Care Technician and Health Unit Secretary
  • House Supervisor (Administrative Shift Coordinator) available in-house 24/7
  • No on-call requirements
Requirements
  • Active AZ or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Experience with basic ICU equipment required
  • BSN not required for this position
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to complex ICU patients including cardiac, respiratory, and post-procedural cases
  • Manage common drips such as Amiodorone, Cardizem, Levophed, Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Vecuronium, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Lasix, Insulin, and Heparin
  • Typically 1-2 ventilated patients on the unit at any time
  • Scrubs of any color are permitted
  • Orientation is 8 hours and occurs every Monday
  • No open heart or neuro surgery cases, and no fresh transplant patients on this unit
  • Cancellation policy allows up to 3 cancellations per 13-week assignment
