Job description

ASRC Federal NetCentric is hiring a Heavy Equipment/Crane Operator in Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform mobile and stationary crane, heavy equipment operations necessary to lift, maintain, move, and position all types of cargoes and infrastructure including such items as roadways, storm water control, machinery, weapons, weapons assemblies, tooling, ordnance, flight hardware and test fixtures required to support critical installation wide space launch and mission operations. 
  • Operate various types of Mobile Cranes, Gantry Cranes and Portal Cranes used in support of the Contract.
  • Operate other heavy equipment (backhoes, frontend loaders, etc.) and multi-axle vehicles used to support transportation and handling of heavy equipment.
  • Develop, understand and read critical lift plans associated with lifting loads of a critical nature.
  • Load and offload ordnance assemblies from submarine and mission support ships.
  • Operate in conjunction with other crane and additional equipment operators to move, lift and or pick oversized loads requiring multiple cranes.
  • Perform and/or assist in the proof loading of assigned cranes as required.
  • Operate cranes and test fixtures used to proof load lifting, climbing, life safety, crane and rigging equipment.
  • Become familiar with, utilize and adhere to Navy Crane Center NAVFAC P307 Management of Weight Handling Equipment Program.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Federal, State, Local, Space Force, Naval and NASA instructions.
  • Perform incidental mechanical repairs related to heavy equipment and crane vehicle fleet.
  • Perform work in other classifications that are incidental, but necessary to accomplish work assignments.
  • Will be required to participate in station preparation, ride-out, and recovery actions following natural disasters, such hurricanes and tropical storms.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with Federal, State, local, Space Force, NASA and Naval regulations, instructions and requirements to include energy management, conservation regulations, security, safety, hurricane and other specialized programs or contractual requirements relating to the business of the section, working within the limits of established policy.


Requirements:

  • H.S. diploma or equivalent with specialized training related to mobile crane and Heavy Equipment operations.
  • Five years related experience within the past six years and currently working in the trade.
  • Possession of a current “Secret” security clearance or National Agency Check with Information (NACI) is highly desired.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a “Secret” Security Clearance. US Citizenship required for obtaining a security clearance. Submit to and successfully pass drug screening.
  • Prior military service and/or experience on Government O&M Contracts.
  • Specialized training related to mobile crane operations. Must hold/maintain the following certifications:
    • A current Florida class A CDL license,
    • A current NCCA or ANSI accredited CCO mobile crane certification.
  • Must have or obtain within six months from hire date the following crane certifications by crane type and capacity;
     
    • Crane - Lattice Boom Carrier/Outrigger        
    • Crane - Telescoping Boom 21 - 75 Tons and Crane 
    • Crane - Telescoping Boom over 75 Tons
  • Able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal in English.

Work Environment: Mostly outside work environment, normal noise levels associated with heavy equipment operations (enrolled in hearing conservation program), some in-door work required to support rigging shop activities.


Physical Demands: Must possess the ability to climb and work at heights up to 100ft.
Must be capable of lifting weights up to and including 50 pounds.
