Job description

Maintenance Engineer – RFP Position Description

Role Summary

The Contractor shall provide a qualified Maintenance Engineer responsible for supporting the technical integrity, reliability, and performance of equipment and facilities. The Maintenance Engineer will analyze equipment issues, improve maintenance strategies, support project implementation, and ensure maintenance activities follow engineering standards, safety requirements, and Owner expectations. Candidates with demonstrated electrical capabilities will be strongly preferred.

Scope of Work / Key Duties

The Maintenance Engineer shall perform, at minimum, the following functions:

  1. Equipment Reliability & Performance Improvement
    • Analyze equipment failures, recurring issues, and performance trends.
    • Develop corrective actions and engineering solutions to improve reliability, availability, and maintainability.
    • Support predictive maintenance and condition monitoring programs.
  2. Technical Support for Maintenance Activities
    • Provide engineering expertise during troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, or instrumentation systems.
    • Validate maintenance job plans for technical accuracy and completeness.
    • Support the Maintenance Supervisor and craft technicians with complex repairs and technical guidance.
  3. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Optimization
    • Evaluate and improve preventive maintenance (PM) strategies and frequencies.
    • Develop or update Bills of Materials (BOMs), task lists, and maintenance standards.
    • Lead reliability initiatives such as ReliabilityCentered Maintenance (RCM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  4. Project Engineering & Implementation Support
    • Provide engineering oversight for capital projects, equipment upgrades, and modifications.
    • Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
    • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and Owner representatives to ensure proper installation and commissioning.
  5. Safety & Compliance
    • MSHA certified
    • Ensure engineering solutions comply with applicable codes, regulations, and Owner policies.
    • Support development of job safety analyses and maintenance procedures.
    • Review work for adherence to design intent and safety requirements.
  6. Documentation & CMMS Support
    • Maintain accurate equipment data, engineering drawings, and technical records.
    • Update SAP asset information, including failure codes and maintenance strategies.
    • Support audits, inspections, and technical reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of asset reliability, maintenance best practices, and root cause analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, problemsolving, and technical writing skills.
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems and standard engineering software tools, SAP preferred.
  • Oil & Gas Industry experience is preferred. 
  • Mining or metals or metals purification experience is desired. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or EngineerinTraining (EIT) certification.
  • Reliability certifications such as CMRP, CRE, or CRL.
  • Experience with RCM, FMEA, vibration analysis, or predictive maintenance technologies.
  • Experience leading capital or reliability improvement projects.

Physical:  While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee may be required to:

  • Remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods during office work and meetings.
  • Move periodically across office settings, client venues, and active project or site locations.
  • Operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
  • Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information in person, electronically, and during virtual or telephone meetings.
  • Lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds occasionally.

  • Direct, collaborate with, and communicate with executives, clients, and project teams. 
  • Interpret and apply company policies, safety protocols, and written instructions. 
  • Perform mathematical calculations, analyze business data, and review project estimates.
  • Maintain accuracy, productivity, and attention to detail while managing competing priorities in an active office environment with frequent interruptions. 
  • Process, retain, and manage complex project details, contractual requirements, and client data.
