Job description


Responsible for advanced level buying of highly complex or a broad range of merchandise categories. Maintains a contracting officer code which binds the Exchange through contractual obligations to a limit of $1,000,000 per contract.
Job Qualifications
Five years of corporate retail buying/planning, allocation and inventory experience is required. Solid background in corporate sales planning, negotiating and financial reporting is required. A specified area of buying experience may be preferred by the hiring manager. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Bachelor's degree plus three years of corporate retail buying/planning, allocation and inventory experience is required. Solid background in corporate sales planning, negotiating and financial reporting is required. A specified area of buying experience may be preferred by the hiring manager. Supervisory experience is preferred.
Contracting Officer Designation - Required.

  • Major Duties
    Manages large and complex merchandise categories. Collaborates with planner and replenisher/allocator to meet plan. Manages vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives.
    Analyzes current category and industry trends, sales data and economic conditions to anticipate consumer buying patterns and develop annual and seasonal in-store and online category assortments. Ensures competitive pricing and exit strategies (regular, promo, clearance).
    May participate in tabloid and promotion planning process to support alignment of in-store and online merchandise assortment.
    Identifies and recommends new products and business opportunities. Negotiates product availability, specifications, distribution, delivery and price. Provides guidance and resolution for customer purchase and satisfaction inquiries.
    Supervises the work of other buyers.
    Performs other duties as assigned.
