Job Summary
The Research Department of the International Monetary Fund is seeking Economist/Senior Economist candidates. The selected candidate(s) will contribute to the development and application of global macroeconomic models for policy scenarios and risk analysis. They will work closely with IMF country teams on the calibration of these models to Advanced Economies, Emerging Market Economies, and Low-Income Countries. The successful candidate(s) will be expected to play an active role in delivering quantitative model-based scenarios that speak to a wide range of countries and can be effectively communicated to policymakers and other stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
An advanced graduate degree in economics or a related field is required. Candidates with at least five years of relevant professional experience will be given greater consideration. Relevant experience may include working in modeling teams at central banks, ministries of finance, or similar institutions.
The successful candidate should have a strong academic and policy-oriented background in macroeconomics and macroeconomic modeling, preferably complemented by a good understanding of Fund policies and practices. Excellent analytical, written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively both independently and as part of large teams and must be flexible and able to perform under tight deadlines. Proficiency in macroeconomic modeling, statistical and econometric techniques, and related software-particularly MATLAB, Troll, Python, IRIS, and Dynare-would be a strong advantage.
The successful candidate(s) will be expected to take up their position as soon as possible.
This is a contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability and continuous business need.
