Job description

Title: Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Downers Grove, IL
Hire Type: Direct
Compensation: $120k+
Must have Skill Set: Electrical Power Distribution & Facilities

Overview:
Oversee all managerial and administrative aspects of turn-key electrical construction projects, including estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, billing, design review/coordination, cost tracking, safety compliance, and proposal preparation.

  • Collaborate with clients to gather project requirements and coordinate the development of electrical design documents and working drawings.
  • Independently and in partnership with senior management, prepare and submit detailed project proposals.
  • Represent the company in client meetings to present proposals, review project scope, and address design, cost, and scheduling questions.
  • Ensure accurate, comprehensive project estimates that align with the electrical scope of work and contractual requirements.
  • Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), change orders, and submittals throughout all phases of assigned projects.
  • Oversee internal project accounting, cost reporting, and financial performance to maintain budget alignment.
  • Plan, direct, and support field operations, ensuring effective coordination between project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
  • Lead project closeout activities, including punch lists, turnover packages, and resolution of warranty-related items

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 5-7 years of electrical project management experience; prior success delivering design/build electrical projects is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, project teams, and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead negotiations and resolve conflicts constructively.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel to project sites nationwide as required.
