Leidos’ Defense Systems Mission Assurance is seeking a Compliance Manager to join our team to be responsible for supporting Quality activities and team members. The Compliance Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and overseeing document control systems, regulatory compliance processes, and internal audit programs within a defense manufacturing and/or services environment. This role ensures compliance with customer, contractual, governmental, and industry standards including ISO 9001, AS9100, CMMC, DFARS, ITAR, FAR, and applicable Department of Defense (DoD) requirements.

The position manages controlled documentation, records retention, audit readiness activities, corrective action systems, and continuous improvement initiatives to support operational excellence and contractual compliance.

Primary Responsibilities.

Document Control Coordination

  • Develop, implement, and maintain document control procedures and policies in accordance with configuration management release guidelines.
  • Administer electronic and physical document management systems submissions and changes on behalf of the Quality team members, when needed.
  • Control tracking for the creation, review, approval, release, revision, distribution, retention, and archival of controlled documents within the Defense sector.
  • Ensure all procedures, work instructions, specifications, drawings, and records remain current and compliant.
  • Maintain traceability and revision history in accordance with defense industry standards.
  • Coordinate configuration management documentation activities when applicable.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure organizational compliance with:
    • ISO 9001
    • AS9100
    • DFARS
    • ITAR/EAR
    • FAR requirements
    • Customer contractual requirements
    • Internal quality management systems
  • Monitor changes in regulatory and contractual requirements and update internal processes accordingly.
  • Support government and customer audits, assessments, and inspections.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and compliance evidence repositories.

Audit Program Management

  • Develop and manage internal audit schedules and audit plans.
  • Lead internal quality and compliance audits across departments and/or programs.
  • Support external audits from customers, registrars, and government agencies.
  • Prepare audit reports and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions and audit events to closure within the CAD database.
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to documentation and compliance processes.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to document management and compliance efficiency.
  • Analyze audit trends, nonconformances, and process metrics.
  • Support root cause analysis and problem-solving activities.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Contracts, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Quality teams.

Training & Leadership

  • Train employees in document control procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Provide guidance to department managers regarding audit preparedness and regulatory compliance.
  • Supervise document control personnel and compliance auditor specialists as assigned.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, quality, and regulatory adherence.

Basic Qualifications.  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in document control, quality compliance, auditing, or quality systems management within the defense, aerospace, or regulated manufacturing industry.
  • Working knowledge of:
  • ISO 9001 and/or AS9100
  • ITAR/EAR regulations
  • DFARS clauses
  • Government contract compliance
  • Experience conducting internal and external audits.
  • Experience with electronic document management systems (EDMS), preferably Windchill.
  • Strong understanding of records retention and configuration control practices.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, contracts, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

  • ISO 9001 or AS9100 Lead Auditor certification
  • Experience supporting DoD contracts or prime contractors
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and PLM systems
  • Security clearance eligibility or active clearance preferred

  • Problem Solving

Pay Range:Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
