Job description

Company Description

Tasked with tackling a labyrinth of payers and organized customers, with limited resources, payer marketers can sometimes feel trapped between a rock and-well...you know.

Which is why our clients need an agency that knows how to rock in a hard space. Since day one, Payer Sciences has approached managed markets from a different angle. We firmly believe the truth lies in the data. We relentlessly analyze what formulary decision-makers and prescribers actually do, revealing patterns and practices that impact stakeholders across the treatment journey, and drive bottom-line results.

This disciplined approach requires an investment in sharp minds and multiple perspectives. To that end, Payer Sciences has assembled a flat and flexible organization, with analytics, consulting and communications living together under one roof-as one fully aligned team-so that we're always ready to rock. No matter how hard the space.

Payer Sciences is part of Publicis Health North America, and a subsidiary of the Publicis Group (OTCQX: PUBGY).

Overview

Payer Sciences is seeking an Associate Director, Data Engineering to help build and maintain the data infrastructure that supports advanced analytics and market access strategy for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients.

In this role, you will contribute to the development and optimization of data pipelines, work with large and complex healthcare datasets, and collaborate closely with Analytics and Strategy partners to ensure data is accessible, accurate, and analysis-ready. You will also support best practices around data quality, documentation, and process improvement.

This is a hybrid role, based in Morristown, NJ, New York City, Chicago or Philadelphia.

Responsibilities
  • Support the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes
  • Assist in ingesting and integrating claims, coverage, SP/HUB, contracting, and other third-party data sets
  • Implement and follow data quality controls, governance, and security protocols
  • Contribute to documentation of data schemas, transformations, and workflows
  • Partner with Data Analysts and Strategists to understand data requirements and deliver access to curated datasets
  • Troubleshoot data issues, escalate risks, and collaborate to solve problems
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of professional experience
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and Python or R
  • Foundational exposure to cloud platforms (Snowflake, Redshift, Azure), ETL/ELT tools, APIs, and Git
  • Experience with structured healthcare or pharma data preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Analytics or other related discipline

Skills:

  • Understanding of relational data models and data transformation concepts
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile data across multiple sources
  • Familiarity with pharma sources (IQVIA Plantrak, Symphony Health PayerSource, MMIT, Clarivate, affiliations data, amongst others) and compliance requirements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to explain data limitations
  • Detail oriented, organized, eager to contribute to a growing organization
