Job description

Overview
VTG is seeking a Cable Installer to support a large cabling infrastructure program located in Washington, DC for the Federal Reserve Board.
What will you do?
  • Pulls cables, such as coaxial, twin ax, twisted pair, optical fiber and other cable types, through conduit, above ceilings and between floors.
  • Installs modular connectors for data and telephone users.
  • Terminates cable on cross connects, hubs, and routers.
  • Uses cable testing equipment to troubleshoot problems.
  • Monitors cable system performance.
  • Provides new users with cable and modular connections and relocates cable connections for existing users.
  • Reads technical manuals and brochures to determine equipment which meets establishment requirements.
  • Visits vendors to learn about available products, enhancements, or services.
  • Tests and evaluates hardware and software to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing system.
  • Oversees or assists in installation of communications hardware.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and minor equipment repairs.

Do you have what it takes?
  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Five (5) years of work related experience.
  • Experience working with Fiber Cables, including building connectors, splicing, and terminating.

Pay Range: VTG's estimated starting pay range is $29/hr-$40/hr which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
