Description
Lead Complex Engineering Projects-Your Expertise Helps Power Entire Communities.
As a lead engineer at Asplundh Engineering Services, you'll take ownership of complex distribution design projects, mentor teammates, and drive engineering excellence for major utility customers.
The Engineer III serves as a senior technical expert responsible for overseeing the design of complex electrical distribution projects. You'll apply advanced engineering judgment, interface directly with customers, guide project execution, and ensure high-quality, cost-effective design deliverables. This role includes opportunities for leadership and mentorship.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
  • ABET-accredited degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • 6+ years of applicable engineering experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in distribution planning and design
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills
  • Ability to lead technical tasks and mentor others
  • CAD experience beneficial but not required
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Lead complex distribution design work using advanced engineering principles
  • Oversee field data analysis and verify technical accuracy
  • Develop cost-effective, customer-aligned design packages
  • Lead permitting coordination with municipalities
  • Serve as a technical resource to construction teams
  • Perform advanced field work as required
  • Mentor and support Engineers I & II
  • Manage workloads to maintain timelines and prevent construction delays
  • Other duties as assigned

FIELD WORK DISCLAIMER
Applicants must be comfortable performing field work as needed. Safety protocols-including PPE, hard hats, eye/ear protection, and proper footwear-are strictly enforced. Fieldwork may require walking, standing, and carrying equipment for extended periods.
CAREER GROWTH
Engineer III roles often progress into Senior Engineer, Project Manager, Engineering Supervisor, or Technical Specialist pathways.
COMPENSATION
Salary for the Engineer III position will be based on experience, qualifications, and professional credentials. The compensation range provided is offered for transparency; however, final salary may be adjusted upward or downward depending on the selected candidate's demonstrated expertise, technical skill level, and overall fit for the role.
