Job description

Meyer Contracting is seeking qualified applicants for a Digital Construction Technician position on our team.

Team Meyer is a civil/sitework contractor based out of Maple Grove, MN who performs Earthwork, Underground Utilities, Demolition, Concrete Structures and Foundations operations primarily in the greater Midwest area. Meyer is unique in that we work in both the public and private commercial civil markets. Employees here gain broad and valuable experience in both markets. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Data Acquisition: Proactively acquire all necessary project data, including CAD files, control points, as well as, plan changes, and revisions directly from clients and engineers.
  • 3D Model Creation: Utilize software such as Agtek, Civil 3D, and Trimble Business Center to develop precise 3D surface and site models from 2D plans and survey data.
  • Data & Plan Quality Control: Meticulously verify that all created 3D models and data accurately and completely represent the contractual plans and specifications.
  • Quantity & Progress Takeoffs: Generate initial earthwork and material quantity takeoffs. Furthermore, compute updated progress takeoffs using field-provided topographic surveys and processed drone flight data to support the project management team with current quantities.
  • Handoff & Communication: Package and deliver completed models and all supporting data in a standardized company format to the Field Technology Coordinator for field implementation. Clearly communicate any complexities, revisions, or potential issues discovered during the modeling process.
  • Support Estimating Team: Provide takeoff quantities and modeling needs to support project bidding when available, also lending training and expertise to PM staff to help develop accurate estimates

Job Qualifications:

  • Required:
    • Proficiency in reading and understanding heavy civil construction plans (earthwork, utilities, site-work).
    • Experience with 3D modeling and takeoff software (e.g., Agtek, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or similar).
    • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for accuracy
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify plan discrepancies.
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Preferred:
    • 0+ years of experience in a similar role for a heavy civil contractor.
    • Expert-level knowledge of Trimble Business Center (TBC) and Agtek.
    • An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).

The salary range offered is $50,000- $120,000. along with benefits which include medical, dental, paid time off, paid holidays, and retirement plan (401k) with company employer contribution.
