Job Summary

The Development Macroeconomics Division (DMD) of the Research Department of the IMF is looking for a Research Officer. The candidate will work on research projects of interest to the division, and the development and application of models to country cases, in areas such as climate adaptation, energy transition, public investment, and fiscal policy. Outputs will typically include practical toolkits, research papers, and contributions in policy.

Minimum qualifications

Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree, or equivalent,in economics, finance, statistics or computer science, or a related field; or auniversity degree, or equivalent,supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • strong analytical, quantitative and computer skills;

  • superior academic record;

  • excellent command of English, written and oral;

  • familiarity with software packages, such as Stata, Python, Matlab and Dynare.

This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability and continuous business need.
