These competencies are crucial for successfully transforming existing structures while ensuring legal compliance, project efficiency, and stakeholder satisfaction.

What is contractual adaptive reuse?

Contractual adaptive reuse refers to the process of legally repurposing existing buildings or structures for new uses through contractual agreements. This often involves negotiating terms among property owners, developers, tenants, and sometimes government bodies to ensure the building's new function complies with zoning laws, safety codes, and preservation standards. The contracts typically outline responsibilities, timelines, and financial arrangements to facilitate the transformation of the property while addressing legal and regulatory requirements. This practice helps revitalize older buildings, making them useful for modern purposes and supporting sustainable development.
