Project Manager
Location: Houston, Texas

Orion Engineers + Constructors is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our growing Houston office. The Project Manager will lead multi-discipline industrial capital projects from initiation through closeout, serving as the client’s representative and ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements. • Lead all phases of industrial capital projects, including scope development, budgeting, engineering/design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and closeout.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, risks, resources, and stakeholder communications.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, contractors, vendors, engineering disciplines, operations, and purchasing personnel.
• Develop and manage project estimates, budgets, forecasts, schedules, cash flow, and capital expenditures.
• Perform project controls activities, including cost tracking, earned value analysis, schedule updates, critical path review, and change management.
• Prepare bid packages, scopes of work, RFPs, and procurement documentation; evaluate bids and support vendor selection and contract negotiations.
• Review contracts, purchase orders, invoices, goods receipts, and project expenditures for accuracy and alignment with project progress.
• Lead project meetings and maintain clear, accurate project records, reports, drawings, and documentation.
• Promote a strong safety culture and participate in contractor safety meetings, audits, job walks, and site inspections.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, client, contractual, and company requirements.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, resolve issues, and communicate project status to leadership and stakeholders.
• Coordinate project closeout activities, including punch lists, as-built drawings, final documentation, and final payments.
• Support proposal and business-development efforts as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• 10+ years of project management experience in industrial, EPC, construction, or capital-project environments.
• Proven experience managing multi-discipline projects involving engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Strong knowledge of project controls, cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, earned value management, and contract administration.
• Experience coordinating contractors across mechanical, piping, civil/structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Knowledge of industrial safety practices and OSHA Process Safety Management requirements; familiarity with MOC, PSSR, PHA, contractor safety management, and hot-work permitting preferred.
• Proficiency with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, EcoSys, or similar project-management and scheduling tools.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
• PMP or other PMI certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and TWIC eligibility required.
• Ability to pass required background checks, drug and alcohol screening, and random testing in accordance with company and client requirements.

This position is based in Houston, Texas and may require local travel among client sites, job sites, vendors, and Orion office locations. Limited overnight travel may be required. The role includes office and field work at operating plants and construction sites, requiring the ability to wear PPE, perform job walks, climb stairs or ladders, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
