Job description

Job Title: HVAC Service & Installation Technician – Independent Contractor /

Subcontractor

Location: South Denver Metro

Employment: Independent Contractor (1099) - with potential path to full-time W-2

Schedule: Minimum 2–3 days/week

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced HVAC Technician to join our team on a subcontract basis. You will perform residential / light commercial service and/or installation work. This is not a full-time employee role at this time - we are looking for a reliable independent contractor who prefers flexibility. Strong performers who desire a full-time position will have a clear path to convert to employee status. Because this is contracted work, we pay at a competitive, higher rate commensurate with experience and self-sufficiency.

Key Responsibilities

· Diagnose, repair, and service heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems

· Perform new installations, replacements, and system upgrades

· Provide excellent customer service and clear communication with homeowners and clients

· Complete work orders, documentation, and follow company quality standards

· Maintain a professional appearance and represent the company positively in the field

Requirements

· Proven experience as an HVAC Technician performing both service and installation work

· Own reliable work van that is properly upfitted and fully stocked with your own tools and equipment (non-negotiable)

· Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

· Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills

· HVAC Journeyman license or NATE certification strongly preferred

· EPA Section 608 certification (required for refrigerant handling)

· Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work in attics, crawl spaces, and varied weather conditions

· Reliable, professional, and customer-focused attitude

Schedule & Flexibility

· Minimum commitment of 2–3 days per week

· Additional days available as workload allows

· Weekends can be scheduled when mutually convenient (many technicians prefer this flexibility)

· You control much of your own schedule within the needs of the work

Compensation

Competitive contractor pay rate (higher than typical employee wages to reflect self-employed status, tools, vehicle, insurance, etc.). Exact rate discussed based on experience, certifications, and productivity. Consistent work volume for the right candidate.
