Contractor Fedex Ground Driver information

What is a Contractor FedEx Ground driver?

Contractor FedEx Ground Drivers are professional delivery drivers who work for independent contractors that have contracts with FedEx Ground, rather than being employed directly by FedEx. Their main responsibility is to pick up and deliver packages to homes and businesses along assigned routes. These drivers typically use company-provided vehicles and must meet certain safety and performance standards set by both their employer and FedEx Ground. The role involves loading and unloading packages, interacting with customers, and ensuring timely deliveries. Requirements often include a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to handle physical work.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a Contractor FedEx Ground driver?

To thrive as a Contractor Fedex Ground Driver, you need a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and basic knowledge of safe delivery practices. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, handheld package scanners, and route management software is typically required. Strong time management, reliability, and effective customer service skills help drivers excel in meeting delivery deadlines and resolving customer concerns. These skills and qualities are crucial for ensuring timely, safe deliveries and maintaining a positive company reputation.

What challenges do Contractor FedEx Ground drivers face and how can they be managed?

Contractor FedEx Ground Drivers often face challenges such as navigating tight delivery deadlines, adapting to variable routes, and dealing with heavy traffic or inclement weather. Managing these challenges involves strong organizational skills, familiarity with route planning, and effective communication with dispatch and customers. Building good relationships with fellow drivers and support staff can help share tips and provide assistance when unforeseen issues arise.

Pivot HR Services

Surrey, BC • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 13 days ago

Job description

Pivot HR Services is pleased to present this exciting Construction Sales Representative opportunity on behalf of our valued client, SkyTec Supply.

SkyTec Supply is a growing Lower Mainland construction supplier specializing in scaffolding rentals and rebar and formply supply and installation.

Built on exceptional service, competitive pricing, and strong industry expertise, SkyTec partners with developers, general contractors, and forming contractors across a wide range of commercial, industrial, and residential construction projects.

As the company continues to grow, they're looking for their first dedicated Sales Representative to help expand their market presence, strengthen client relationships, and drive new business throughout the Lower Mainland.

Position Overview

SkyTec Supply is seeking an experienced Construction Sales Representative to drive new business across both its scaffolding rental and rebar/formply divisions.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, creating opportunities, and winning new business. You'll manage the full sales cycle - from prospecting and site visits through to closing deals and supporting long-term client relationships.

As SkyTec's first dedicated salesperson, you'll play an instrumental role in the company's continued growth. This position offers a high level of independence, trust, and ownership, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building something from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities throughout the Lower Mainland.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with developers, general contractors, forming contractors, and other key industry partners.
  • Proactively generate new leads and expand SkyTec's customer base across scaffolding rentals and rebar/formply supply and installation.
  • Represent SkyTec professionally at client meetings, job sites, networking events, and throughout the construction community.

Sales and Relationship Management

  • Manage the full sales cycle, including prospecting, site visits, relationship building, negotiations, and closing new business.
  • Work closely with company leadership to develop competitive quotations and proposals.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure exceptional service throughout each project.
  • Build long-term partnerships that result in repeat business and ongoing referrals.

Account Management

  • Maintain an organized sales pipeline and provide regular sales updates.
  • Support the collection of outstanding receivables on your accounts.
  • Monitor customer activity and identify opportunities for additional business.
  • Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and new construction opportunities throughout the Lower Mainland.

What We're Looking For

This role isn't for everyone.

We're looking for a true hunter - someone with a competitive mindset who enjoys opening doors, building trusted relationships, and consistently winning new business. You're driven, self-motivated, and thrive in an environment where results matter.

The ideal candidate has built a strong reputation within the Lower Mainland construction industry and is known for delivering exceptional customer service, following through on commitments, and earning the trust of clients.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience within the construction industry.
  • An established network of developers, general contractors, and/or forming contractors throughout the Lower Mainland.
  • Proven success generating new business and consistently achieving sales targets.
  • Experience managing the entire sales cycle, from prospecting through to closing and ongoing account management.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable conducting regular site visits and spending the majority of your time in the field.
  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability - you don't wait for opportunities, you create them.
  • Highly self-directed with the ability to work independently and manage your own priorities without constant supervision.
  • A customer-first approach and willingness to go above and beyond to build long-term relationships and earn repeat business.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including understanding customer relationships and supporting timely collections.
  • Valid BC Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Assets

  • Experience selling scaffolding rentals, rebar, formply, concrete forming products, or other construction materials.
  • Existing relationships across both the scaffolding/forming and rebar sectors.
  • Experience within commercial and industrial construction markets.
  • Estimating or project coordination experience.
  • Experience using a CRM or other sales pipeline management tools.
