Facility Plant Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Facility Plant Engineer to join our team and support the design, optimization, maintenance, and continuous improvement of facility utility and infrastructure systems. The successful candidate will be a technical resource for site-wide HVAC, utility, and energy systems, manage facility-related capital projects, and drive reliability improvements across operations. The role demands experience in supporting complex utility systems within a regulated manufacturing environment, along with strong project management, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, optimization, and continuous improvement of facility utility and energy systems.
  • Support HVAC systems, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, hot water systems, steam systems, purified water systems, nitrogen systems, dust collection systems, and municipal utility connections.
  • Provide technical expertise in troubleshooting, maintenance strategy, and reliability improvements.
  • Manage capital improvement and facility upgrade projects from conception through execution.
  • Assist with equipment specification, procurement, installation, commissioning, qualification, and startup activities.
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, scopes, and engineering documentation.
  • Coordinate activities with contractors, vendors, engineers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure facility systems comply with applicable regulatory, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Support validation activities and engineering change processes.
  • Analyze system performance data and identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements, and energy reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain facility drawings, operating procedures, and system documentation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and support site engineering objectives.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • Experience supporting facility, utility, or plant engineering operations within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, utility infrastructure, and industrial facility equipment.
  • Experience managing engineering projects from design through implementation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working with contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong documentation and technical writing abilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, food manufacturing, or other regulated industry.
  • Experience with GMP environments.
  • Understanding of commissioning, qualification, and validation processes.
  • Knowledge of energy management and sustainability initiatives.
  • Experience supporting capital projects and facility expansions.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems and industrial control systems.

Work Environment

The role involves interaction with operations, maintenance, quality, engineering, and external contractors, and includes a mix of office-based project work and hands-on plant floor support.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
