Outside Sales Consultant – Drive High-Ticket Consultative Sales in Specialty Construction

Job Overview:

  • Company: SHADE Industries.

The Opportunity:

SHADE Industries is seeking an experienced, high-ticket Outside Sales Consultant to drive our consultative sales process across Arizona. We design and sell custom, one-off tensioned fabric structures—a highly specialized niche in the design-construction field. In this role, you will convert inbound inquiries and key prospects into high-value contracts. While previous shade structure experience is not required, you must bring exceptional sales instincts, a disciplined work ethic, and the technical curiosity to understand how custom concepts translate into engineered realities.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Execute a consultative sales process on high-ticket custom shade structure projects from qualified lead to signed contract.
  • Work primarily with pre-qualified inbound leads while developing complementary, targeted prospecting opportunities.
  • Pre-qualify prospects over the phone and systematically manage pipelines and follow-ups through our CRM system.
  • Conduct in-person client meetings across the Phoenix and Tucson metro areas, and manage out-of-state accounts remotely.
  • Utilize basic SketchUp 3D design software to create conceptual layouts during the sales conversation.
  • Apply core building and engineering principles to guide clients on structural feasibility, site limitations, and design options.
  • Maintain active communication with engineering, drafting, and project management teams to ensure seamless project handoffs.
  • Operate out of our central office when not actively conducting offsite customer consultations.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven track record in high-ticket, consultative B2B or direct-to-consumer sales.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read site layouts and conceptualize built structures.
  • High level of phone discipline, excellent follow-up skills, and direct experience using CRM software.
  • Proficiency with standard business computing tools (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Willingness and capacity to learn 3D design software (SketchUp).
  • Reliable personal vehicle, clean driving record, and ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Prior experience in construction, architecture, building materials, or specialized trade contracting.
  • Familiarity with consultative design-build selling techniques rather than high-pressure transactions.
  • Basic familiarity with 3D modeling tools such as SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar design tools.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive starting base salary around $70,000 plus an escalating car allowance structure.
  • Uncapped commission potential ($100k first-year target; top performers making 150k-250k+).
  • Dedicated company tech package including a laptop and mobile phone.
  • Fuel reimbursement and vehicle allowance progression tied to growth milestones.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with HSA options.
  • Paid time off (Holidays, Vacation, Sick days).
  • 401(k) retirement savings program with company match.
  • Full product, technical design, and system process training.
