About the Position

As a Senior BIM Specialist, you will be responsible for providing building information modeling (BIM) services for Company projects and assisting in the development of fully constructible 3D models and detailed construction documents as necessary to support field electricians with challenging electrical installations. The Senior BIM Specialist plays a key role in collaborating with project managers and other internal and external team members that involves project planning as required for each specific project.

Day in the Life

  • Executes and tracks daily work plans. Provides recommendations for changes to improve standards and procedures, as necessary. Provides technical support to project managers, field personnel, estimators, and customers. Responds to questions and addresses problems with appropriate resolutions and plan revisions as needed.             
  • Works closely with design teams while applying detailed attention to modeling, clashing and annotating sheets. Gathers and requests specific information from other design disciplines necessary to move forward and complete electrical designs on schedule. May review the work of co-workers as needed.             
  • Produces constructable 3D model content and detailed electrical construction installation documents. Completes 2D and 3D drafting tasks to support electrical construction initiatives, utilizing standard Company software, such as Autodesk software.             
  • Develops conceptual designs, sketches, or value engineering ideas to help project managers or estimators prepare estimates. Prepares calculations, specifications, cable pull schedules, reports and other documents as needed. Coordinates this type of work with other employees as needed.             
  • Consults with vendors and reviews project shop drawings for design accuracy and contract requirements. Works with project managers as needed to develop engineered construction installation drawings from contract documents developed by outside firms.             
  • Attends BIM coordination meetings and maintains appropriate communications with all appropriate parties as needed. Make plan changes according to feedback received. Escalates cost and scheduling issues to manager.             
  • Develops a high level of understanding in the installation of electrical systems, the National Electrical Code, and other building codes. Stays informed of new electrical and safety codes, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices. Participates in electrical construction-related training to maintain a high level of proficiency and updated technical skills.             

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in building information modeling (BIM) trade school, engineering, or a related field.             
  • Minimum 3-4 years of BIM modeling experience.
  • Proficiency in using Autodesk, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office software. Experience using Evolve software is a plus.             
  • Skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, and specifications and basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code preferred.             
  • Basic project management experience and skills. Understanding of the project life cycle.             
  • A strong desire to learn more about electrical design and construction, with a commitment to being a dependable team player and growing with the Company.

Travel

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Salary Range

  • $74,400 - $89,300 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
