Veterinary Surgeon – Fixed-Term Contract

Virginia, QLD | Full-time | No after-hours | 1 in 4 Saturday mornings | Supportive team environment

Virginia Family Vet is looking for a passionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and experienced team on a full-time fixed-term contract commencing November 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a veterinarian with 1–2 years of experience who is looking to continue developing their clinical skills within a supportive and collaborative team. You’ll be joining a well-established practice with a strong focus on high-quality patient care, Fear Free principles and creating a positive experience for pets, clients and our team.

About Our Clinic

Virginia Family Vet is a purpose-built small animal veterinary practice with a team of 5 veterinarians and 5 nurses. You’ll be supported by an experienced and collaborative team with a range of clinical interests, including dentistry, behaviour, physiotherapy and ultrasound.

Our clinic has been thoughtfully designed to support both our patients and our veterinary team, with dedicated facilities and equipment including:

  • 6 Fear Free consult rooms, including 2 dedicated cat consult rooms and 4 dog consult rooms
  • 2 dedicated surgery rooms
  • Digital X-ray
  • In-house laboratory
  • Orthopaedic equipment
  • Separate cat and dog wards
  • Isolation ward
  • EzyVet practice management software
  • On-site staff parking

You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a varied GP caseload with approximately 2 surgery days per week, alongside a team that values collaboration, professional development and delivering excellent patient care.

About You
  • A qualified veterinarian registered to practice in Queensland
  • Ideally 1–2 years’ experience in small animal general practice
  • A confident and compassionate communicator who enjoys building relationships with clients and their pets
  • A team player who enjoys working collaboratively and contributing to a positive team culture
  • Passionate about providing high-quality, patient-centred veterinary care
  • Keen to continue developing your clinical skills and areas of interest
