POSITION: PROFESSIONALCIVIL ENGINEER
STATUS: Full Time
STARTING PAY: Salary commensurate with experience level.
HOURS: Monday through Thursday, nine-hour days, and Friday, four-hour day; Additional hours may be required based on project needs
LOCATION: Metairie, Louisiana
Professional CivilEngineer in the Engineering Division; focused on continuing career as atechnical expert and/or project manager for Civil Works. This is an idealopportunity for someone who can meet the challenges defined by our clients andcontinuously develop himself or herself on a career level.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS:
• BSDegree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering curriculum
• Advanceddegree a plus
• 5-10years of experience as a Professional Engineer
• Registrationas a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Louisiana, or the ability togain registration through reciprocity within 6 months
• ProjectManagement
• Knowledgein AASHTO "A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets"
• Knowledgeand understanding of applicable design codes and client's standards
• Designexperiences with storm water drainage
• Abilityto define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
• Abilityto interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical ordiagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
• Roaddesign experiences with Louisiana DOTD, preferred
• Experiencewith Microstation, preferred
• Experiencewith Inroads, preferred
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Dutiesinclude, but are not limited to providing engineering and technical supportwithin the Transportation Department through services such as projectdevelopment, detailed project design, calculation and proposal development,opinion of cost, and technical engineering and inspection for a variety of roadprojects. Specific examples include:
• Utilizingengineering and CADD software to oversee and/or provide designs for road, drainageand other civil project plans and specifications
• Interpretingelectronic surveys to incorporate into plans
• Projectmanagement for all phases of design work from inception to final acceptance
• Manageprojects to ensure efficient personnel utilization and on time delivery
• Assistin the review of roadway calculations and plan submittals, shop drawingsubmittals, contractor proposals, requests for information, change orders, etc.
• Performingproject cost estimating
• Developproject engineering fees and negotiate engineering contract scope of workPerforming QA/QC reviews of the design activities of design team members
• Participatein proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
• Assistin any duties required to deliver a quality product on schedule and withinbudget
• Assist/supportproposal development
