Job description

Head of Software Engineering Acceleration (AI DevX)

Scientific Games is seeking a senior leader to accelerate software engineering across a global organization by improving developer workflows, engineering systems, and AI-enabled development practices. This role focuses on removing friction across the software delivery lifecycle, including tooling, testing, code reviews, documentation, repository guidance, and team collaboration to help engineers build faster and more effectively.

Overview

  • Lead the strategy and execution for engineering acceleration across SG, building a small, high-impact team.
  • Drive scalable improvements in developer productivity by leveraging AI where it adds value and by creating reusable systems, best practices, and measurable gains.

Responsibilities

  • Identify bottlenecks across the software delivery lifecycle and design practical, data-driven improvements to tooling, testing, and processes.
  • Improve developer workflows, CI/CD, review processes, documentation standards, and repository guidance to reduce friction and accelerate delivery.
  • Lead cross-team collaboration to implement scalable engineering acceleration initiatives and monitor progress against productivity metrics.
  • Build and promote reusable patterns and systems that engineers adopt broadly across the organization.
  • Balance strategic planning with hands-on execution and provide clear written guidance to teams.

Experience That Would Help

  • Broad experience in software engineering, platform, DevX, or engineering systems work.
  • Experience leading cross-functional technical efforts across a large engineering organization.
  • Strong understanding of SDLC bottlenecks, testing maturity, CI/CD, review workflows, and repository health.
  • Familiarity with AI coding tools, agentic coding patterns, repo-aware guidance, and evaluation methods.
  • Evidence of building shared systems or patterns that other engineers actually adopted.
  • Ability to work in a polyglot environment with different languages, repos, and local processes.

Experience That Fits

  • 12+ years of experience across software engineering, product engineering, platform engineering, or technical product development.
  • 5+ years leading efforts to help development teams build faster, with higher quality, and more joy.
  • Proven track record of building mechanisms that identify bottlenecks and provide solutions for builders.
  • Experience operating effectively within large, complex systems, including legacy platforms.
  • Automating testing across unit, integration, contract, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing.

Work Conditions

Scientific Games, LLC and its affiliates (collectively, “SG”) are engaged in highly regulated gaming and lottery businesses. Some SG roles may require gaming or other licenses, background investigations, or security checks, or compliance with laws, regulations, or contracts. As a condition of employment, employees may need to meet these requirements. The job description identifies major responsibilities and requirements, but employees may be asked to perform other job-related tasks as needed.
