Primary Role:

As the Tool & Die Manager, you will lead the tooling, die maintenance, machining, and equipment reliability functions supporting Caldera's manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for ensuring tooling, dies, fixtures, and production equipment are built, repaired, maintained, and continuously improved to maximize uptime, quality, and operational efficiency. The Tool & Die Manager serves as both a technical leader and working manager, partnering closely with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and Quality to support safe, reliable manufacturing.

The Tool & Die Manager plays a critical role in supporting that mission by ensuring our tooling and manufacturing assets perform at the highest level.

Scope:

  • Lead the daily activities of the Tool & Die shop while providing technical direction & mentoring.
  • Establish priorities for tooling repairs, preventative maintenance, and new tooling builds.
  • Coordinate work with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance.
Tooling & Equipment Management:
  • Manage the fabrication, repair, modification, and maintenance of stamping & bend tooling, dies, jigs, assembly & weld fixtures, and production equipment.
Preventive Maintenance & Reliability:
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
  • Diagnose root causes of equipment failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Maintain tooling inventories, repair records, and equipment history.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve up time, reduce tooling costs, and improve productivity.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize tooling and improve manufacturing processes.
Leadership & Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Develop team members through coaching, training, and performance management.
  • Assist with budgeting, capital planning, and outside vendor coordination.
  • Ensure documentation and maintenance records remain accurate.
Compliance & Safety:
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
  • Maintain organized work areas and support all quality system requirements.

Key Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • 5+ years of tool & die, machining, or industrial maintenance experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
  • Experience with manual machining equipment.
  • Excellent mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
