Job Overview Job Title: Lead Ground Tactical Radio SME Location: MacDill AFB, FL This position is pending contract award. Job Responsibilities Trace Systems is seeking an experienced Lead Ground Tactical Radio SME to support a ground tactical radio requirements supporting the US Special Operations Command and mission partners. This role supports the government lead for Ground Tactical Radio R equirements manager in creating the future for requirements across the force. * Engineer and Test future capability for force modernization across multiple ground tactical radio capabilities. * Help write support documents for funding and requirements across the technology requirements. * Assist the government in decision making on force modernization and capabilities for ground tactical radio. * Develop and maintain engineering artifacts including diagrams, build guides, and configuration documentation. * Participate in systemwide vulnerability, compliance, and configuration audits. * Support transport-level integration in lab, test, including hardware builds and device configuration. * Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to validate designs and support mission-driven network modernization efforts. * Perform hands-on engineering, configuration development, performance monitoring of new technologies in support of government functions. Minimum Qualifications * Active, in-scope US Government issued Top Secret with SCI clearance. * Due to the nature of the work and contract requirements, US Citizenship is required. * Ability to travel worldwide, including to remote or austere locations. Individual trips may extend up to two months, with the possibility of multiple trips per year. * 6+ years of RF engineering experience supporting DoD, ISR, EW, or tactical communications systems. * Strong understanding of RF theory, propagation, modulation, waveform analysis, and spectrum management practices. * Experience with RF system design and integration, including antennas, amplifiers, filters, feedlines, and multi-band radio systems (HF/VHF/UHF/SHF/EHF).
* Experience supervising, managing, and leading technical engineering teams. * Ability to collaborate wih vendors and other teams to restore services and complete projects. * Familiarity with SATCOM (military and commercial), tactical radio platforms (Harris, Thales, TrellisWare), and BLOS/LOS mission networks. * Knowledge of DoD spectrum policy, cybersecurity (RMF), TEMPEST considerations, and secure RF system handling procedures. * Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
