Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Pro Shop Worker meets and greets customers in a friendly and professional manner. The primary function of this position is to make the customer feel welcomed and appreciated. The position reports to the Golf Course Manager.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure that all patrons and guests are greeted and welcomed in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Answer telephones clearly and concisely, to schedule future starting times and communicate information in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Maintain a high profile with patrons and guests.
  • Maintain the golf shop and related areas in a clean, orderly and attractive manner. This includes the shop, merchandise displays, common areas, restrooms and storage areas.
  • Continually replenish the supply of practice balls.
  • Patrol the practice tee to pick up trash and empty range ball buckets.
  • Rotate practice tee area in accordance with tee maintenance program.
  • Collect, clean and bag balls at the end of play.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • At least two (2) years in customer service-related position
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Licenses or Certifications:

  • Must possess a valid State driver license upon employment.
  • Must be at least 21

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of the City of Page and the department.
  • Knowledge of Lake Powell National Golf Course Rules and Regulations.
  • Knowledge of basic golf rules & etiquette.
  • Skill in dealing tactfully and effectively with the public.
  • Skill in the safe and lawful operation of all required equipment.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with co-workers, other City staff and the public.
  • Ability to work well and communicate with all levels of personnel and the general public.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to operate all equipment necessary to perform the functions of the position.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment, computer equipment and software including word processing, data base management, spreadsheet applications and electronic mail.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions from others.
  • Ability to resolve problems.
  • Ability to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions, including heat, cold, precipitation, and wind.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift, push, pull or carry up to 25 pounds, sit, stand, walk, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, kneel, squat, stoop, bend, reach, turn, climb, crawl, listen, and use hands and fingers. The employee must demonstrate the ability to remain calm during routine and stressful conditions. The employee is also required to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
