Job Description
In order to carry out the company's strategic initiatives, this position formulates, negotiates, drafts and implements wheeling, use-of-facility, transmission services, generation or load interconnection, and other transmission system transactions and agreements which minimize cost and maximize value to the company's customers. This position ensures compliance with FERC transmission regulations and provides input to negotiating policy, business options and arrangements, legislation, governmental regulation, and industry positions that may impact future opportunities available to the company. This position would support a broad range of transmission and interconnection activities associated with evolving system and customer requirements and may represent the company in negotiations, conferences, meetings, and regulatory proceedings.
Requirements
Transmission Contracts Specialist I:
  • Requires advanced specialized knowledge and technical background as represented by a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in the utility or energy business which may include contract preparation, inter-utility and interconnection transactions, electric utility operations, federal electric regulatory compliance, and statistics
  • Effective & flexible communication and technical writing skills
  • Proficient analytical skills

Hiring Range: $100,378 to $131,496
Transmission Contracts Specialist II includes the above requirements in addition to:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in the utility or energy business which may include contract preparation, inter-utility and interconnection transactions, electric utility operations, federal electric regulatory compliance, and statistics
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and outside the organization
  • Advanced technical writing abilities, effective negotiation skills, and advanced analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently with very minimal guidance

Hiring Range: $114,207 to $150,183
Sr. Transmission Contracts Specialist includes the above requirements in addition to:
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in the utility or energy business including contract preparation, inter-utility and interconnection transactions, electric utility operations, federal electric regulatory compliance, and statistics
  • Excellent technical writing abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment and independently with wide latitude for unreviewed action
  • Recognized expert and high contributor
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Innovative approaches to problems encountered, taking into account elements such as financial, operational, regulatory, strategic and political considerations

Hiring Range: $130,190 to $171,852
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Hybrid work options are available for this role. The successful candidate will be required to work at our Spokane, Washington headquarters at least 3 days per week including Mondays and Tuesdays with additional day(s) determined by the manager.
