Job description

ABB is currently seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as a Staff Engineer. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting Project Managers and Principles by contributing to both design and investigative services. As a Staff Engineer, you will be responsible for a diverse set of tasks, ranging from assessing existing building conditions to overseeing remedial design projects.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design:
    • Study existing building conditions and identify failures within components and systems.
    • Conduct research for remedial design solutions, including structural calculations when necessary.
    • Prepare comprehensive design documents.
    • Manage the bidding process and administer contract documents.
    • Monitor construction activities related to the remedial design.
  • Investigation:
    • Review design and construction documents.
    • Conduct forensic investigations and document existing conditions.
    • Perform non-destructive and destructive testing.
    • Research code requirements and manufacturer recommendations.
    • Analyze evidence, incorporating structural calculations as needed.
    • Develop conclusions and recommendations.
    • Write detailed reports summarizing investigative findings.
  • Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering; MS in Structural Engineering preferred.
    • Expectation of becoming a licensed professional engineer in Texas within 3 years after commencing employment.
