Job description

  • Department: Main Operating Room
  • Schedule: Full Day Times, Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm
  • Work Location: UAB St Vincent's Birmingham

Manages the daily operations of the assigned area(s).

  • Develop specific departmental goals, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Assess quality of patient care and coordinate patient care services with patients, staff, physicians and other departments.
  • Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll and student engagement.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts and vendor relations. Maintain systems to assure adequate levels of supplies and necessary equipment.
  • Manage daily surgery schedule maintaining communication with all disciplines involved.
  • Plan and prioritize day-to-day activities of personnel. Adjust staffing to compensate for emergency situations or increase or decrease inpatient census.

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing required.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing
    Association obtained prior to hire date preferred OR Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile
    Processing credentialed from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)
    preferred.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing program AND professional licensure/certification required. 3 years of
    experience and 1 year of cumulative leadership experience required.
