Position Overview:

The Sewing Technician will construct quality custom fit removable insulation covers and pads, by following patterns, drawings, and design specifications. They will create each product by setting up and operating an industrial sewing machine in accordance with work order assignments.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Measuring, cutting, marking, and preparing materials to be sewn to specifications.
  • Able to perform basic math functions and read/interpret drawings and/or patterns.
  • Sew materials using an industrial sewing machine while observing stitching for defects.
  • Guides parts under sewing machine needles, following edges, seams or guides on machine bed or cloth markings; starts, stops and controls speed of machine with pedal or knee lever.
  • Checks accessories (thread, bobbins, and finished material) and selects sewing supplies according to customer requirements.
  • Maintains sewing equipment to maximize efficiency, which includes cleaning, lubricating and adjusting tensions, as needed.
  • Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs various other duties and functions as required or assigned.

  • Pushing, pulling, reaching and grasping/gripping with arms, hands and/or fingers
  • Excellent eye/hand coordination
  • May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day.
  • Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to handle materials.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain cleanliness of work area.

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to lift, push, pull and move up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis.
  • Ability to climb Ladders and stairways regularly throughout the work shift.
  • Ability to observe conditions and others as safety attendant staying alert while seated for long periods of time as needed.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and other tools and equipment in a safe and controlled manner.
  • Ability to perform inspections of site, tools, and equipment.
  • Ability to perform behavioral observations focused on safety and process improvement.
  • Ability to follow safety protocol and to report any incident, unsafe act, or unsafe condition immediately to the site supervisor and safety manager.

Training

  • Must provide proof of successful completion of OSHA 10 hour within 60 days of starting at hth companies.
