Location: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) – New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Full-Time / Part-Time
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain all required federal credentials and site access authorizations.


POSITION SUMMARY

The Site Security Officer is responsible for protecting personnel, government property, facilities, and visitors at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) facilities in New Orleans, Louisiana. Officers perform access control, security patrols, incident response, visitor screening, and emergency response functions while maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor. Security Officers must adhere to all federal, state, local, and contract requirements while ensuring a safe and secure environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Control access to federal facilities through identification verification and visitor processing.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and designated security areas.
  • Conduct routine patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, and parking areas.
  • Respond to emergencies, disturbances, security violations, and suspicious activities.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, and timely incident reports.
  • Enforce federal regulations, site policies, and security procedures.
  • Provide customer service and assistance to employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Operate security equipment, communication devices, and access control systems.
  • Assist first responders during emergencies and critical incidents.
  • Maintain vigilance and situational awareness while performing assigned duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

To be eligible for employment under this contract, applicants must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States, including U.S. territories and commonwealths.
  • Be at least 23 years of age.
  • Possess a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
  • Successfully complete and sign an annual Lautenberg Amendment Statement/Domestic Violence Certification in accordance with 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(8) and (9).

Applicants must also meet one of the following requirements:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of armed security experience; or
  • Minimum of two (2) years of military service, National Guard service, or military reserve service; or
  • Successful completion of a Federal or State-certified Law Enforcement Training Academy or Police Officer Standards Training Program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Security Officers must be physically capable of performing the following essential functions:

  • Standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Sitting for extended periods while monitoring security systems.
  • Responding rapidly to emergency situations.
  • Applying handcuffs and utilizing approved restraint techniques.
  • Physically engaging or subduing individuals when necessary.
  • Working independently and under stressful or high-pressure situations.
  • Lifting, bending, reaching, and climbing as required.
  • Performing duties indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Be able to complete a Contract Security Physical ability test.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Possess or be able to obtain all applicable Louisiana security officer licenses and certifications required by state law.
  • Maintain all required licenses and certifications throughout employment.
  • Successfully complete all contract-specific training requirements before assignment.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record (if required by site duties).
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Security Officers may work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Assignments may require indoor and outdoor duties, prolonged standing, and responding to emergencies at any time during the shift.

  • Successfully pass all pre-employment screening requirements, including background investigation and drug screening, as required by contract.
  • Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Demonstrate reliability, integrity, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with government personnel and the public.
  • Comply with all federal, state, local, and contractual security requirements.
  • Successfully completion Firearms Training, Baton and OC training prior to standing post.
