Job Description: Electronic Technician Maintenance III/Lead

Reports to: Program Manager

FLSA: Full-time, Hourly Non-Exempt

Primary Work Location: Fort Novosel, AL

Position Overview

The Simulator Technician Maintenance III/Lead position supports the Army Warfighter Training & Readiness Solutions (WTRS) contract.

Responsibilities / Duties

  • The Simulator Technician Maintenance III/Lead position will perform all functions required to Maintain and repair electronic WTRS equipment for the following devices: Common Hardware Platform (CHP), Games For Training (GFT, EST II, Small Arms Flash-Noise Gunfire Simulator (NTSD), TRAINING KIT, SELECTABLE LIGHTWEIGHT ATTACK MUNITION (SLAM) ARMY M320E1 (UPGRADE), Sweep monitoring System (SMS), Aviation Combined Arms Tactical Trainer (AVCATT, Non-rated Crew Member Manned Module/B (NCM3-B)
  • Utilize spare/repair parts to address faults and perform preventative maintenance in accordance with technical guidelines.
  • Research and select necessary repair parts.
  • Supervise, provide direction to, and check lower-level technicians’ work.
  • Enter work order data accurately and timely into the online management information system.
  • Apply technical knowledge to solve routine electrical, mechanical, and computer issues by interpreting manufacturers' manuals and schematic drawings.
  • Perform inventory of spare/repair parts in accordance with contractual guidelines.
  • Ensure all paperwork and reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide technical support and training to system operators.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This position may require travel to other installations and other WTRS Locations


Minimum Requirements

  • B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Science, or Information Technology from an accredited university and 10 years of experience, Master’s Degree in Engineering, Science, or Information Technology and 5 years of experience, Or 14+ Years of Experience in lieu of Degree
  • Proven Experience leading a team
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid driver’s license and On-Post driving privileges
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Preferred Skills/Knowledges

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, computer proficiency, and the ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, customer service and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)

Physical Demands

  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Bend, squat, climb, and reach.
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing: viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading.
  • May be exposed to extreme weather conditions.
  • Experience utilizing test equipment to include: torque wrenches, volt/micrometers, network cable crimping/testers and solder stations to support repairs
