Overview

William Charles Electric, a MasTec company, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support assigned renewables and power delivery projects. This role partners closely with project teams to manage project documentation, ensure compliance with contract requirements, and support QA/QC processes across multiple active jobs. The Assistant Project Manager also collaborates with site superintendents to optimize the use of labor, equipment, and subcontractors, driving efficiency and high-quality project delivery within the electrical construction environment.

Travel & Project Assignment: You can live in any city or state in the continental United States. This is an on-site position which may encompass a work site primarily in the Midwest, but may include Eastern and Western states. Must be capable of working on-site for 3 weeks with a four-day rotation. We offer designated per diem of $1,020 per week in addition to base pay to support and help you cover living expenses during the travel rotation. You must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided for the assigned work location.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing scheduling of subcontractors on site
  • Receiving and checking quality of materials
  • Completing QA/QC checklists
  • Submittals (material approvals)
  • RFI's (general questions)
  • Preparing official documents for the project, routing and finalizing
  • Preparing projects reports as needed
  • Back up documentation
  • Close-outs final quantities
  • Proposing/ negotiation extra work
  • Special projects within the Project Management function as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by the Project Management Department
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. preferred). A combination of education & experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2 to 4 years of Medium/High Voltage substation and transmission line construction industry experience/knowledge of construction techniques, estimating and construction management.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles.
  • Experience with Project Management systems, such as Procore, Build2Win, MS Project and/or P6 and, HCSS
  • Strong analytical skills. Comfortable with Microsoft processing tools including MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read and understand contracts.
  • Detail oriented, good organization skills.
  • Ability to communicate well with others, both written and orally.
  • Functional knowledge of job cost accounting.
  • Understanding of CPM scheduling.
  • Must be capable of up to 75% travel (e.g. 3 weeks or 15 days per month) by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Travel will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job, and the employee must have the ability to drive and have proper licensing.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
