Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Float Pool Respiratory Therapist (RRT) you will provide essential respiratory care across diverse patient populations within our dynamic Texas Market, acting as a pivotal member of our healthcare team. This critical role demands a highly flexible and skilled Respiratory Therapist to deliver a comprehensive range of treatments, from breathing techniques to advanced ventilator management, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and respiratory health.

Every day you will leverage your acute assessment skills and critical thinking to manage varied respiratory needs, developing and executing effective care plans with precision. You will be instrumental in providing vital treatments such as nebulizer therapies, oxygen administration, and external ventilation support, maintaining calm and focused intervention during both routine and emergent situations. Your daily contributions will directly impact patient well-being, applying established patient care standards and collaborating seamlessly with clinical leadership.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a robust background as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with expertise in managing diverse respiratory conditions and treatments. Your flexibility to float to various departments and sites throughout the Texas Market, including the ability to adapt to day-of staffing changes, is essential. A commitment to patient safety, strong assessment and critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to function effectively under pressure are paramount for success within this indispensable float pool position.

Float Registered Respiratory Therapist, RRT III B: Employees (at times w/in minimum of a 2 hour notice) will agree to float to all St. Luke's facilities within the Texas division.  Must be available to be scheduled for a minimum of 3 shifts every week and available to be scheduled a Saturday and Sunday shift every other weekend.  Must be available to be scheduled for two major holidays per policy. May take Call.

Mileage reimbursement and applicable differentials will apply if eligible.

  • Associates Degree
  • Must complete a respiratory care degree program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Texas (RCP)
  • Two (2) year of experience working in an acute care facility, NICU experience required 
  • BLS 
  • ACLS
  • Based on location assignment may also require PALS, NRP
