SUMMARY

Coordinate logistics requirements to fully load-out a new construction ship for delivery by complying with the Integrated Logistics Support Management Plan (ILSMT) plan.  Ensure the safe, timely and accurate loading of Operating Space Items (OSI), General Use Consumables (GUCL), Store Room Items (SRI), Purchase Specification items, and other requirements as approved by the customer and NASSCO Contracts prior to and following the delivery of previously specified ships. Reports directly to the Manager, Engineering Operations and Control.  Interacts with USN/MSC Project Office personnel as required. Coordinates Load Out requirements with ILS, Purchasing, Warehousing, Transportation, and Production personnel.  Coordinates with company Program Managers, Ship Managers, and other company department Managers/Supervisors as may be required to accomplish company goals

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Develop plans, schedules, and reports as needed to meet contract deliverable requirements.
  • Provides daily supervision and direction on board and in the warehouse during ship load-out.  Assists, as required, with all aspects of material release, delivery, and loading.
  • Coordinates support requirements for load-out to include transportation, rigging, and engineering.
  • Develops and monitors schedule and budget performance metrics for monthly progress reporting.
  • Performs logistic analyses to develop methods to improve the efficiency of each load-out.
  • Brief upper management and USN/MSC Program Office personnel on program status.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of eight years of logistics experience is required.  A Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering, logistics or a related field is preferred.  Ship loading experience is preferred.  Military logistics experience is preferred.
  • Must have an understanding of ship terminology and a familiarity with ship layouts in general.
  • Must be familiar with safety procedures in an operational environment.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing.
  • Must have an operational knowledge of Microsoft office products to include; Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Capable of learning and using variety database software and databases.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able climb stairs, climb on and around ships, climb vertical ladders to perform ship inspections, and assist with load out requirements.  Specific vision abilities required by this job are close vision.   Must be physically able to walk to various areas in the shipyard for meetings.  Regularly required to sit, use hands to type, handle documents and drawings, and to talk and hear.  While transiting the shipyard and performing ship inspections, the employee is occasionally exposed to welding/burning fumes, smoke, paint fumes, and high noise levels.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Responsible for compliance with contract requirements.  Responsible for accurate and timely submission of contract required deliverables.  Responsible for Safety during all load-out activities

$69,700 - $90,200
