Local Contract Rn In The Operating Room

Local contract RN in the operating room for a 13-week assignment in or near Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The role delivers expert cardiovascular and thoracic nursing care in a fast-paced surgical environment, supporting surgical teams and ensuring patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver expert cardiovascular and thoracic nursing care in a busy OR.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to prepare, instrument, and assist during procedures.
  • Monitor patient vitals and anesthesia, addressing abnormalities promptly.
  • Document patient care accurately in the EMR, including pain scores and meds.
  • Assist with instrumentation, manage case equipment, and maintain readiness.
  • Uphold sterile standards throughout surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate equipment and supplies for efficient workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate care.
  • Respond to intraoperative emergencies with timely interventions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of intraoperative details.
  • Prepare patients for surgery and post-operative care transitions.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • CPR certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent CVOR or cardiovascular operating room experience
  • Experience working independently in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Ability to work 8-hour day shifts 11 am to 7 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Ability to handle rotating call shifts, approximately 2–3 nights per month
  • Strong communication and critical thinking skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Previous travel experience preferred
  • ACLS certification preferred
