Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Columbia, AL

Experience Level: Senior (10+ Years)

Contract- 1 Year

Client- Southern Nuclear

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in power system design and engineering project management. The ideal candidate will bring at least 10 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, demonstrating proficiency in design, analysis, and coordination for complex power and industrial projects — including those in nuclear plant environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee electrical power system designs, including scope documents, schedules, and budgets.
  • Develop and review single-line diagrams, elementary wiring diagrams, and layout/circuitry designs.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, QA requirements, and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide technical direction to engineers, designers, and drafters on assigned projects.
  • Conduct site walkdowns, support checkout and startup activities, and resolve field engineering issues.
  • Communicate effectively across engineering disciplines, vendors, and plant staff to ensure project success.
  • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring compliance with cost, quality, and schedule objectives.
  • Apply problem-solving and analytical skills to address engineering challenges and improve system reliability.
  • Participate in design reviews and maintain quality control through engineering documentation and verification.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (accredited program required).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 10 years of related engineering experience (power generation or industrial preferred).
    • Prior nuclear plant design experience is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and power plant systems.
    • Experience in AutoCAD; experience with CAD Overlay is a plus.
    • Ability to prepare, review, and check design details, drawings, and calculations.
    • Proficiency with industry codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, etc.).
    • Working knowledge of QA processes and regulatory compliance requirements.
    • Knowledge of the industry design process (IP-ENG-001) is preferred.
