Contract React Frontend Developer information

How does a Contract React Frontend Developer typically collaborate with design and backend teams during a project?

As a Contract React Frontend Developer, you’ll frequently work alongside UI/UX designers to translate visual concepts into interactive features, ensuring that designs are both functional and visually consistent. You'll also coordinate with backend developers to integrate APIs and align on data structures, which often involves regular stand-ups or sprint meetings. Effective communication and familiarity with collaborative tools (like Jira, Figma, or Git) are essential to keep everyone aligned, especially since contract roles may require ramping up quickly on existing team workflows.

What is a Contract React Frontend Developer?

A Contract React Frontend Developer is a software professional hired on a temporary or project basis to build and maintain user interfaces using the React JavaScript library. They focus on translating design mockups and requirements into interactive, responsive web applications. Unlike full-time employees, contract developers typically work for specific durations or on particular projects, often bringing specialized expertise to help teams meet their goals efficiently. Companies hire contract React developers to scale up their frontend development efforts or to introduce advanced capabilities without long-term commitments.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Contract React Frontend Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract React Frontend Developer, you need a solid understanding of JavaScript, React.js, HTML, CSS, and experience with responsive web design, often supported by a relevant computer science degree or proven portfolio. Familiarity with tools like Redux, Git, RESTful APIs, and testing frameworks (e.g., Jest or Cypress) is typically required, and certifications in modern JavaScript frameworks can be advantageous. Strong problem-solving, adaptability, and clear communication skills help you collaborate effectively with teams and clients in dynamic contract environments. These skills and qualities ensure you can deliver high-quality, maintainable code efficiently while meeting client needs and adapting to changing project requirements.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client in Leawood, KS is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong generalist development skills, who thrives in small teams and can learn new technologies quickly. You'll primarily focus on backend work while contributing across the stack when needed. The role spans .NET/C#, Python, SQL, React, and Power BI integration, with an opportunity to learn Databricks on the job. Ideal candidates have breadth of experience, follow best practices, and are comfortable jumping into different parts of the codebase as priorities shift.
Responsibilities:
* Own backend services and APIs in .NET/C# and Python; design for scale, performance, and reliability
* Model, query, and tune relational databases (SQL Server/PostgreSQL/MySQL) for application and analytics use cases
* Contribute to the React front end using best practices (component architecture, state management, testing)
* Integrate and embed Power BI visualizations into the client portal and front end experience (versus custom React charts where appropriate)
* Learn and apply Databricks/Spark patterns for data pipelines, ETL/ELT, and analytics-training/support available
* Write clean, well tested code; participate in code reviews, pair programming, and documentation
* Operate across the stack as a true generalist (primarily backend today), jumping into -whatever comes up- in a small-team environment
* Collaborate cross functionally with product, data, and business stakeholders; help translate requirements into robust technical solutions
* Contribute to DevOps/CI/CD workflows, observability, and incremental delivery
* Champion security and compliance practices appropriate for production systems
REQUIREMENTS:
* 7+ years of professional software engineering experience; breadth over narrow specialization
* Proven ability to learn new languages/tools quickly and work across unfamiliar parts of a codebase
* Strong hands on experience with backend development in .NET/C# and Python
* Proficiency with SQL (schema design, complex queries, performance tuning)
* React experience with best practices (modern hooks, testing, accessibility, performance)
* Experience embedding or integrating Power BI in web applications (exposure is sufficient)
* Comfort working in small, agile teams and switching contexts as priorities evolve
* Strong fundamentals: design patterns, testing, code readability, and maintainability
Nice to have:
* Exposure to Databricks (or strong interest and aptitude to learn); Spark experience a plus
* Cloud experience (Azure/AWS), containers, and infrastructure as code
* Experience with ETL/ELT, data pipelines, and analytics portals
* Secure coding practices, performance profiling, and troubleshooting in production
* Familiarity with Power BI embedding (App Owns Data, service principals) and analytics governance
