Job description

Immediate need for a talented Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer. This is a 06+ Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Phoenix, AZ (Hybrid). Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if you are interested.

Pay Range: $50 - $57/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and support IBM z/OS operating systems and related subsystems.
  • Perform system IPL activities, upgrades, migrations, patches, and preventive maintenance.
  • Manage and support JES2/JES3, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, SDSF, RACF, VTAM, TCP/IP, HCD, and system automation tools.
  • Monitor system performance and capacity planning activities to ensure optimal availability and reliability.
  • Perform storage management and DASD administration using DFSMS concepts.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, analyze dumps/logs, and resolve production incidents.
  • Support disaster recovery exercises, backup, recovery, and business continuity initiatives.
  • Implement automation and operational improvements using REXX, JCL, and scripting tools.
  • Coordinate with application teams, vendors, and infrastructure groups during implementations and upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, audit requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide 24x7 production support when required

Key Requirements and Technology Experience:

  • Skills-7 years of experience in IBM Mainframe Systems Programming.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:

  • SMP/E
  • RACF
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
