Job description

The QA Manager – Laboratory owns end-to-end laboratory operations — metrology, calibration, and testing/inspection — ensuring full compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and ISO/IEC 17025. This leader builds a culture of precision, audit readiness, and continuous improvement while delivering reliable laboratory services that support the business.

Key Responsibilities

Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain and advance compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and customer/regulatory requirements, including leading the laboratory to ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation
  • Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, and test methods; champion audit readiness across internal and external audits
  • Drive timely CAPA resolution and cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives

Leadership & Operations

  • Direct daily laboratory operations and set priorities to ensure on-time delivery of laboratory services
  • Hire, develop, and manage laboratory personnel through coaching, training, and performance management

Metrology, Calibration & Technical Oversight

  • Manage all measurement and test equipment (LIMS, CMM, precision gauges) with full traceability to NIST or equivalent standards
  • Oversee calibration scheduling, uncertainty analysis, out-of-tolerance investigations, and MSA/Gage R&R evaluations
  • Troubleshoot equipment and measurement system failures; lead RCCA and approve test results, calibration certificates, and reports as required

Suppliers, Contracts & KPIs

  • Qualify and monitor external calibration providers and raw material suppliers; administer equipment service contracts and ensure all deliverables meet quality requirements
  • Track KPIs (calibration compliance, measurement capability, turnaround time) and lead Lean/Six Sigma initiatives to drive improvement

Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with company EHS requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field
  • Proven supervisory/management experience in a quality role (salaried and hourly employees)
  • Hands-on experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP, and ISO/IEC 17025; aerospace or precision manufacturing background preferred
  • Strong technical foundation in metrology, calibration, uncertainty analysis, LIMS, SPC, MSA, and Gage R&R
  • Familiarity with aerospace inspection tools (CMM, optical systems) and laboratory practices (microscopy, metallography, wet chemistry); special process knowledge a plus
