Job description

At Trident Maritime Systems - Heavy Equipment Group, we don't just build systems-we build careers. As a leader in the marine and defense industry, we're looking for innovative, forward-thinking professionals who are ready to take on complex challenges and deliver real-world solutions.
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to work on-site at one of the following locations: Kingsford, MI, Iron River, MI OR Rhinelander, WI with travel between plant locations as needed.
The Quality Engineer will investigate, analyze, and resolve internal, supplier and customer quality issues by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects.
MAJOR DUTIES:
  • Champions problem solving and root cause analysis activities with the plants and customers to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances.
  • Initiates, tracks, and works with appropriate departments to resolve CARs.
  • Supports delivery, warranty, and quality improvement activities to achieve the highest quality and customer satisfaction levels.
  • Identifies unique contract quality requirements and assures they are flowed down to supply chain and manufacturing.
  • Conducts internal audits to identify and correct procedural, product, or process deficiencies.
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement projects.
  • Drives a "Zero Defect" mentality within the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years of experience in a quality related role.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing (weld/machining) environment.
  • H.S. diploma required, A.S. or B.S. and/or experience in related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with a formal Quality Management System.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with precision tools and measuring equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Works well with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to function independently of direct supervision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • ISO led auditor certified or ability to obtain lead auditor qualification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Job often requires long hours of sitting/computer usage. Requires the ability to walk, push, pull, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs.
