Job description

Position Summary
CONTRACT POSITION - Temporary (4) Months
The Field QC Technician I is an entry-level position within the Field QC team. This role works under close supervision and direction to support data quality control workflows and production activities. The Technician assists with identifying and resolving data issues and helps ensure the timely progression of field-collected data into production environments. The position focuses on learning and applying established quality standards and processes while developing foundational technical skills and an understanding of field data quality requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive assignments and guidance from senior members of the team to process
    • GPS/IMU Trajectory Data
    • LiDAR Point Cloud data
    • GPS Base Station Data
  • Provides support in analyzing Trajectory & Point Cloud Data for consistency and accuracy
  • Track flow of data from field to production
  • Identify anomalies in field data and correct the errors where possible

Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies
  • Some college required or Bachelor's degree in GIS a plus.
  • General computer literacy and competency (file types, computer networks, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
  • Knowledge of GIS, GPS, LiDAR: Mapping Projections & Datums, GPS Post-Processing, LAS files
  • Demonstrated ability to apply analytical methods and sound judgment to solve problems.
  • Math and statistical analysis
  • Familiar with computer programming language Python and batch processing
  • Experience with relational database principles including structured query language (SQL).
  • Oral and written communications skills that allow accurate translation of user requests into GIS products

Work Environment
  • Works in a fast paced office environment with multiple priorities and competing demands; potential set-backs in project completion due to internal or external issues, resourcing and re-allocation.
  • Regular office hours with some requirements for additional work during busy times.
  • May work for long periods reviewing data on computer.
