Job description

The Opportunity 

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Data Scientist to join our growing team and play a critical role in shaping the future of energy storage. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in data analysis, machine learning, and statistical modeling to extract valuable insights from our diverse datasets and drive innovation across our operations. You will work closely with our engineers, product managers, and business development teams to optimize battery performance, develop predictive models, and support data-driven decision-making.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets from various sources, including battery management systems, sensor networks, and external databases.
  • Develop and apply machine learning algorithms and statistical models to predict battery performance, cell aging and degradation, optimize charging strategies, and identify potential failures.
  • Contribute to battery data collection strategies for in-field deployments and lab tests.
  • Design and develop machine learning architecture and full data flow pipeline.
  • Design and implement data visualization dashboards to communicate key insights and trends to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop data-driven solutions for improving battery efficiency, safety, and lifespan.
  • Conduct research on the latest advancements in data science and machine learning, particularly in the energy storage domain.
  • Contribute to the development of Moment Energy's data infrastructure and analytics capabilities.
  • Support data-driven decision-making across various departments, including product development, business development, and operations. 

The Candidate

We're looking for individuals with the following traits, skills, and experiences:

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, with a proven track record of applying machine learning to solve real-world problems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization libraries.
  • Proficiency in machine learning algorithms and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Passion for clean energy and a desire to contribute to a sustainable future.
