Job description

General Description:
The Vac Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of vacuum trucks to support facility, field and rig operations on the North Slope. Must have experience running 325 bbl vac truck.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Operate vacuum trucks and associated equipment to load, transport, and offload materials safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections, preventative maintenance checks, and report any mechanical issues.
  • Properly hook up hoses, pumps, and other attachments for suction and discharge of fluids or solids. Ensure all loads are secured, documented, and transported in compliance with DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, manifests, and trip reports as required.
  • Respond to spills, clean-up operations, and other emergency support as needed. Work in varying conditions, including extreme cold, snow, and ice.
  • Perform general labor tasks when not driving, including equipment cleaning, shop support, and site maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and site personnel to coordinate assignments. Be a Safety Leader! Ensure the resources and commitment to HSE is of top priority for all employees within the company.
  • Maintain 100% "Safety Standards and Accountability" in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
    • Maintain compliance with the required HSE Training.
    • Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
    • Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly and willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
  • Performs work in strict compliance with permitting requirements,
  • Alaska Safety Handbook (ASH) Standards and other compliance-oriented directives.
  • Participating in safety meetings, working safely, and maintaining a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI Industrial Services.
  • Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working. Demonstrate and promote safe work practices by participating in JSA reviews, pre-job walkdowns and safety START card preparations covering work activities and materials required by the company and the client.
  • Promote and participate in Safety Programs.
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations, HAZMAT handling, and North Slope oilfield operations preferred. Skilled in safe operation of heavy equipment, vacuum systems, and pumping equipment.
  • Ability to conduct pre- and post-trip inspections and identify potential mechanical issues.
  • Strong situational awareness, hazard recognition, and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Basic computer and electronic logging device (ELD) knowledge.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Position may involve exposure to extremely hostile weather conditions at times while working outdoors. This position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and waste.

Required Qualifications:
  • Must have experience running 325 bbl vac truck.
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • A valid CDL (Class A) driver's license is required.
  • NSTC Card required. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience operating vac trucks in oilfield or industrial settings.
  • HAZMAT endorsement on CDL.
  • Previous North Slope or remote cold-weather work experience.
  • Knowledge of spill response and environmental compliance procedures.
  • OSHA, HAZWOPER, or other safety/environmental certifications.

Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A pre-hire post offer Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) will be conducted to determine an employee's ability to perform to the job standard. FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY EVALUATION (FCE) LEVEL 3.
  • MOBILITY: Must be able to access all controls and all parts of machinery for service. Must be able to push/pull 50 pounds for 20 feet.
  • LIFTING: Must be able to routinely lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, 30 pounds from waist level to shoulder height and carry 50 pounds for 20 feet.
  • HEARING: Must be able to hear audible safety alarms
  • VISUAL ACUITY: Must be adequate to perform above listed tasks in a safe manner and take hand signals from ground man or flag man. Have correctable vision to at least 20/40.
  • RANGE OF MOTION: An objective range of motion measurement will be conducted and recorded using a five position and rapid exchange grip strength test during the pre-hire/ post offer FCE.
