Position Summaryย 

The accountant oversees advanced accounting functions across gaming and nongaming operations, ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and efficient internal controls. This role plays a key leadership role in managing fixed asset processes, construction in progress (CIP) accounting, and vendor management for capital and operational expenditures. The accountant supports the month end close, financial analysis, and cross department collaboration while providing guidance to junior accounting staff.ย 

Key Responsibilitiesย 

Financial Reporting & Analysisย 

  • Prepare, review, and analyze complex daily, weekly, and monthly financial and gaming performance reports.ย 

  • Lead month end and year end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.ย 

  • Provide detailed financial insight to management on revenue trends, cost drivers, and budget performance.ย 

Casino Revenue Operationsย 

  • Oversee reconciliation of high volume casino revenue streams including slots, table games, cage operations, keno, bingo, sportsbook, hotel, and F&B.ย 

  • Monitor drop, count, and cage variances and ensure compliance with internal controls.ย 

  • Identify unusual activity or discrepancies and initiate corrective action.ย 

Construction & Capital Projects (CIP) Accountingย 

  • Manage accounting for construction projects, including tracking project budgets, commitments, and expenditures.ย 

  • Review construction invoices, retainage, change orders, and progress billing for accuracy and contract compliance.ย 

  • Prepare CIP schedules and reconcile accounts monthly.ย 

  • Coordinate with facilities, procurement, and project managers to validate costs and resolve discrepancies.ย 

Fixed Asset Managementย 

  • Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and asset tagging.ย 

  • Ensure assets are recorded in accordance with GAAP and casino regulatory requirements.ย 

  • Conduct periodic physical inventory of fixed assets in coordination with operations and facilities teams.ย 

Vendor & Contract Managementย 

  • Oversee vendor relationships for capital and operating expenditures, including contract compliance and invoice accuracy.ย 

  • Review vendor performance reports and support procurement with financial evaluation of bids or proposals.ย 

  • Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and proper documentation for audits.ย 

Compliance & Auditingย 

  • Ensure adherence to gaming regulatory standards, internal controls, and company policies.ย 

  • Prepare and maintain documentation for internal, external, and gaming commission audits.ย 

  • Strengthen internal control processes and recommend improvements.ย 

Operational & Leadership Responsibilitiesย 

  • Provide financial guidance to operational departments and support budgeting and forecasting activities.ย 

  • Mentor junior accounting staff; provide training on casino systems, reconciliations, and financial processes.ย 

  • Assist in developing and improving accounting procedures.ย 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 4 to7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience; gaming or hospitality experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with construction accounting, CIP processes, or fixed asset accounting preferred.

  • Experience leading or training accounting staff preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulated industry accounting practices.

  • Proficiency with casino management systems (e.g., Konami SYNKROS, Aristocrat Oasis, IGT Advantage) a plus.

  • Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with ERP or financial systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.

Work Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours around month end, audits, and peak periods.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license.

  • Ability to work onsite in a casino environment and collaborate across departments.
